Tutorial: Kitschy pom pom pumpkin napkin rings

I'm still working on getting photos of my fancy new sewing studio, but in the meantime I thought I'd share another quick craft tutorial.

They're so quick and easy to make!  Like, you could make enough to set a whole table in less than half an hour.

Do you recognize the plastic pumpkins?  They're those little treat cups you find at every craft and dollar store.  (I got mine at Michaels several years ago.)

I've always wondered what people actually DO with them.  I mean, they're cute, but does anyone really put candy in them?  Cause, like, there's not much room for candy in there.  And it'd be impossible to actually get the candy out.

But those jack o'lantern faces are so awesomely retro they NEED to be turned into something kitschy for Halloween.  Like napkin rings!

My photo shows them with lime green bandanas (because that's what I had around the house), but some black and white striped napkins would be the bomb.

Anyway, the tutorial is super easy and it goes like this:

You need a pack of plastic pumpkin treat cups, a package of small black pom poms, a good pair of scissors, and hot glue.

All you have to do is:

  1.  Remove the handle and cut the bottom out of the pumpkin.

  2. Hot glue pom poms all around the openings.

That's it.  Seriously.

Now go make you some kitschy retro pumpkin napkin rings!!

Love these! I've been trying to come up with a unique napkin ring for my Halloween Tea Party. This is it, and it's so quick. Now, just hope I can find those little pumpkins at Walmart! It looks like I'll need about 20 little tiny pom poms for each napking ring, right? Off to Michael's!
